J. David Zehntbauer

Partner

David is a partner at Dunn Carney whose practice focuses on real estate and corporate law. He leads the firm’s Real Estate and Land Use practice group and is an active member of the Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, Agriculture & Natural Resources and Intellectual Property teams. He has extensive experience in commercial property acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing and complex financing transactions. David has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, and is ranked by Chambers USA and IFLR for his expertise in real estate law.

The other primary area of David’s practice is advising clients regarding entity selection and formation, including the representation of closely held business and companies raising capital from investors through private placement offerings and angel investments. He also advises clients with regard to mergers, acquisitions, asset/stock sales; and works with his clients in connection with the protection of their intellectual property including federal and state trademark registration and licensing.

David is a responsive and practical deal maker who maintains a view of the big picture and the best interests of his client. He is adept at identifying risks and works to minimize them while facilitating smooth closings for his clients.

In addition to leading Dunn Carney’s Real Estate Practice Group, David is the chair of Dunn Carney Cares, the firm’s private foundation providing emergency assistance to employees and their families.

David lives with his wife in Northeast Portland where he is active working out, playing golf and enjoying the many outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer. He spends as much time with his two college-age daughters as they will allow.
