April M. Stone
Associate Attorney
April enjoys almost everything about litigation. She relishes the fast-paced environment, strategy development, fact-finding, and creativity that skilled lawyers like her bring to their clients.
April’s practice is built upon a foundation of nearly twenty years of litigation experience stemming from her former career as a paralegal, and early career as a law clerk to Chief Judge Marco A. Hernández at the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and several years representing clients in high-stakes commercial disputes. She is well-versed in all aspects of case development and strategy, case evaluation, discovery, working with experts and clients, and preparing for and taking cases to trial. Before becoming a lawyer, April assisted lead trial counsel and judges during more than 15 civil jury trials in rural and metropolitan state and federal courts.
April also has experience representing world-class athletes on their journey to the Olympics and Paralympics in team selection disputes under Section 9 of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee Bylaws.
As a lawyer, April has tenaciously represented clients throughout all stages of litigation from case inception through trial, including writing and successfully arguing various motions, taking and defending depositions, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in bench trials and arbitrations. She has been recognized by the Oregon Law Center, Legal Aid Services of Oregon, and Oregon Association of Defense Counsel for her superior advocacy and has been named as one of Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch and Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars in commercial litigation and energy law in recent years.
April’s deep commitment to serving her community is demonstrated by her years of mentoring students and teen parents and her long history of coaching sports at the local, state, national, and international levels.
