Christopher L. Parnell, Of Counsel

Christopher L. Parnell is Of Counsel in Dunn Carney’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights practice group. Chris has extensive experience representing creditors, trustees, and business debtors on a wide range of bankruptcy and insolvency issues. In addition, Chris represents clients on a variety of financing and corporate matters.

In 2012-2015, Oregon Super Lawyers recognized Chris as a Rising Star in Bankruptcy.  He is an active member of the Debtor-Creditor Section of the Oregon State Bar.

Before joining Dunn Carney, Chris was an associate in the Bankruptcy practice group at another Portland law firm.  Prior to law school,  Chris worked in the fields of music and art.

Representative Experience

  • Represented Chapter 11 Trustee in complex case involving urgent care medical clinics in Redmond and McMinnville. Successfully obtained confirmation of reorganization plan, settled adversary proceedings, and resolved numerous disputed claims
  • Represented furniture company creditor at trial in Chapter 7 adversary proceeding and obtained a favorable judgment for nondischargeability of debt based on fraud and willful and malicious injury
  • Represented Chapter 7 Trustee in negotiation and approval of a property settlement with debtor’s ex-wife following a contested divorce judgment, in an adversary proceeding to avoid liens on estate property, and assisted with sale of debtor’s yacht, boathouse, and business equipment
  • Represented Chapter 11 debtor in obtaining denial of judgment creditor’s motion for relief from stay regarding condominium and marina project on Hayden Island
  • Represented Chapter 7 Trustee in negotiating and obtaining approval for complex sale of peer-to-peer file sharing intellectual property
