The City of Portland will hold a hearing at 2:00 p.m. January 31 at Portland City Hall (1221 SW Fourth Avenue) for public testimony on the City’s proposed Sick Leave ordinance.
The proposed ordinance would require Portland employers of 6 or more employees to provide a minimum of 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours of work performed, up to a maximum of 40 hours per year. For example, an employee who works an average of 23 hours per week would earn 40 hours of paid sick leave per year. For employers with fewer than 6 employees, the sick leave would still be required but would be unpaid.
A sign-up sheet for those interested in testifying is expected to be available at 1:30 p.m. prior to the start of the hearing.
