Merrill Baumann made a speech “IP 101: What Entrepreneurs Need to Know about Trademarks, Copyright and Trade Secrets,” to Mamapreneurs Inc. , June 2009 Eric A. Kekel will speak on Construction Defects at the Oregon State Bar Real Estate and Land Use Section Annual Meeting in August.
August 14- Jack Hoffman will speak at a Ticor Title event on Eminent Domain. Sept. 16- Dunn Carney Employment Seminar- Crime and Punishment, Civil Disobedience or One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest? Tamsen Leachman, Jack Cooper and Irene Scruggs will address the Organizational Impact of Serious Employee Misconduct and the Importance of a Strategic Response. 7:30 AM at the Multnomah Athletic Club.

Oct. 14- Commercial Leases in the 21st Century Seminar sponsored by the Seminar Group. Dan Drazan and David Zehntbauer will speak on 21st Century Leasing and Renee Stineman and Dan Drazan will speak on Lease Enforcement- Nuts and Bolts.
Oct. 14- Dunn Carney Employment Seminar on Outing the Elephant – Understanding, Addressing, and Resolving Bullying Behavior in Your Workplace. Tamsen Leachman, Berry Kruijning, of Crowning Communication and regional expert, Kandy Weaver, of Kandy Weaver & Assoc. will make the presentation at the Multnomah Athletic Club. Oct. 27-Dunn Carney will host a seminar Construction Liens. The seminar would also include some basic lien information, but would focus on how developer bankruptcies, Washington receiverships, FDIC receiverships, Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems can impact lien claims, as well as key differences between OR and WA lien law that may warrant different credit/collection policies. John Chambers and Tim Hering will make the presentation.
Oct. 30-Tim Bernasek will speak at an Oregon State Bar Real Estate and Land Use CLE called Real Estate and Land Use 2009: Looking Forward to New Opportunities. Tim’s topic is new farming techniques and uses of agricultural lands.
Nov. 4-Dunn Carney will co-host a seminar with Aon on Environmental risks, liabilities and responses. The program will include presentations by Elizabeth Howard, David Rossmiller, Jack Hoffman, and Kate Moore on what clients need to do to address actual and potential environmental liability, either as part of a transaction (real estate sale, merger, acquisition) or as a property owner. We will provide practical explanations and tips on these topics, and Aon Risk Services will explain some of the risk mitigation products available on the market right now.
Eric Kekel will be speaking with Don Johnson, Kurtz Ford & Johnson and Dean Aldrich, Aldrich Law Office. In property damage cases, plaintiffs frequently assert claims for diminished value damages in addition to damages for the cost of repair or replacement. In this session, trial lawyers from both sides will share their thoughts-and arguments-about when, if ever, diminished value damages are available.
